Energy Voucher Service
An industry-first, the Energy Voucher Service, powered by Switchee, uses real-time data to detect households in fuel poverty. Free for Switchee customers to send, residents receive a link to an energy voucher on their Switchee device within 48 hours.
Over last year's winter period, through sending energy vouchers, we helped residents warm their homes an additional 26 minutes per day on average. This resulted in an in-home temperature increase from 16.5°C (winter 23/24) to 17.6°C (winter 24/25).
7.4% of social rent homes suffer fuel poverty
The Housing Fuel Poverty Index (HFPI), powered by Switchee, is an aggregated metric spotlighting the prevalence of dangerously cold social homes in the UK. This index offers a live overview of homes failing to meet the 18°C threshold, as recommended by Public Health England.
Last winter, 2024/25 saw 7.4% of social rent homes in fuel poverty. Scotland was the worst affected region with 9.3% of households suffering fuel poverty, an increase of 23% from winter 2023/24.
Despite all the efforts people are making with the continued cost-of-living crisis and high energy bills, residents across the UK continue to struggle. The proportion of socially rented homes in fuel poverty this winter remains unchanged at 7.4%.
